Joanne — The JO of POCONOJO'S
The JO of POCONOJO'S
Named for Joanne

Jim Thorpe has always felt like home. As a kid, summers meant Grandma's house on Spring Street — cousins running wild outdoors, evenings around the kitchen table with cards and laughter.

Time has transitioned us into a new generation, but this place and these feelings remain the same. My parents ended up moving back to Jim Thorpe not too long before my mom, Joanne, passed — bookending her life in the Poconos.

She would have loved this place. She was the absolute best at making meaningful traditions, extending hospitality, and finding a reason to have a martini. Our hope is that her kind of joy can live on as you create wonderful memories with those you love here.

Cheers, friends — and welcome back!

Steve & Mandy
A note about Mandy: Everything she does is grounded in hospitality — just like Joanne. If you have a vision for your stay, she is more than happy to coordinate a specialized welcome. All it takes is a wish, a little time, and communication around budget. Reach out through the booking form or text her directly after you've confirmed. She will take it from there.

Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania Area Activity Book

"Jim Thorpe is a town that will surprise you, charm you, and make you want to come back. This book is your invitation to fall in love with it — one page at a time."

An activity book about the town we love — history, nature, birds, hikes, songs, word searches, scavenger hunts, and a whole lot of Mandy's personality. Because Jim Thorpe is even better when you know its stories — check out the book before you arrive, or pick up a copy as a souvenir and find reasons to keep coming back.

🍕 The Garlic Pizza + Boulder Field Adventure — A POCONOJO'S Tradition

Sometime after lunch, pack everyone in the car. Don't tell them what you're doing. Head up 903 north toward the turnpike — about five to eight minutes past the Shell Gas Station, turn right into the first plaza. Go into Gagliano's pizza shop and ask for a piece of cheese pizza with garlic from the garlic knots baked on it. One piece per person. Do not order ahead. It is a completely different experience when it's reheated while you wait. Pile back in the car, chow down together (everyone will have the happiest bellies and the worst breath together), then plug BOULDER FIELD into your GPS. Fight the temptation to look it up first. See it in person. The internet will ruin it. Then follow directions to the Boulder Field within Hickory Run State Park. Go enjoy it.

Lehigh Gorge Trail
Follows the Lehigh River with stunning mountain views. Accessible from downtown Jim Thorpe. Great for biking too — rent bikes and pedal to Weissport for ice cream.
Switchback Railroad Trail
Pennsylvania's first railroad, now an 18-mile recreational trail. Hike, bike, or cross-country ski. Rich history at every turn.
D&L Trail / Lehigh Canal North
Picks up behind the train station in downtown Jim Thorpe. Perfect for walking and biking with historical significance along the canal.
Lentz Trail
A more relaxed trail with historical significance. A good option for mixed groups and varying experience levels.
Mount Pisgah Trail
Part of the larger trail network in the area. Offers elevation and rewarding views for those willing to work for it.
⛷️ Snow Sports
Three ski areas nearby: Jack Frost / Big Boulder, Camelback Mountain Resort, and Blue Mountain Ski Area. Each has its own character — we haven't experienced all three yet. If you go, we'd love your thoughts.
